Millicent Todd's "A Man Is Two Faced" is a cover of the American standard "Blues In The Night" (music by Harold Arlen; lyrics by Johnny Mercer). The story of Arlen & Mercer's composition is fascinating, and available on Wikipedia here. The song has been covered by everyone. Here are Peggy Lee & Lou McGarity singing it with Benny Goodman on an old 78:
"Strong, strong, strong!"
ReplyDeleteLoved the story about the night Blues In The Night was written - the one that you link to on Wikipedia.
Nice turntable video too.
