"No Pop No Style - A Strickly Roots" Playlist for May 5, 2011

A reissue of "(Remember) Walkin' In The Sand" by the Shangri-Las, which hit #5 in the pop charts when it was first released in 1964. "Those girls were CRAZY!" said Shadow Morton, "I loved them."* He wrote this song and several other "3-minute operas" for them in the early 1960s. Tonight we heard a version by Hollie Cook, from her upcoming self-titled album.
