Emancipation Day, commemorating the abolition of slavery in the British Empire on August 1, 1834, is being celebrated in Windsor this weekend. The celebration of Emancipation Day, a long-standing local tradition that lapsed in the wake of the Detroit riots, was revived in 2008, as you can read in the Windsor Star article from which the above photo was borrowed.
